In NAD, the responsible agency that was in charge to operate the water treatment plants was PDAM, the Local State Drinking Water Company. There were in total 5 Water Treatment Plants donated by
The water treatment units located in the areas where clean water was scarce and the people were in desperately need of clean water. Trucks of North Aceh PDAM Tirta Mon Pase delivered the water to the public hydrants at the refugee camps and along the North Aceh coastline affected by the tsunami where all its wells were contaminated by the seawater. Some international NGOs had been helping the PDAM in distributing the water. They included OXFAM, and IRC (International Rescue Committee) that currently operated in Indonesia in collaboration with Consortium for Assistance and Recovery Towards Development in Indonesia (CARDI).
