A CSR Program from UNIDO

UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organizations) is in the preliminary stage to promote a new program on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development in Indonesia, in addition to Tanzania and Nicaragua. For this, UNIDO Vienna International Center has elected ibu Darwina Wijayanti, Executive Director of YPB/LEAD Indonesia, to be the National Advisor for Indonesia.

Kazuki Kitaoka from the UNIDO Vienna visited Indonesia last September on a “fact-finding mission” to learn on the issues of CSR and SME. For this purpose, Kitaoka and Darwina Wijayanti visited about 29 relevance institutions such as Indonesia Business Links, ASTRA Internationa, PT Bogasari and its SME partners, Danamon Peduli, APIKRI, Department of Industry, Swiss Contact, UNDP, etc.

With all the inputs derived from the preliminary visits, UNIDO then will conduct a workshop of multi stakeholders and a workshop of donor agencies, to develop a strategy, in December 2005.
