LEAD Associate Training (LAT) has been conducted by LEAD Indonesia since 1992 at the same period with LEAD Office network around the world: Europe (the headquarter, LEAD International, based in London), CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Africa (Senegal, South Africa, Nigeria), Canada, Asia (Japan, India, Pakistan, China and Indonesia). LAT is aimed to educate mid-career professionals with the understanding of the importance of sustainable development. The issue is discussed intensively with specific topic of the year. Upon completing the national session at their origin country, and at regional and/or international level the participants will be LEAD Fellows. Thus far, LEAD Fellows become a global network of almost 2000 professionals in government agencies, private sectors, NGOs, academic institutions and mass media, representing more than 80 countries. In 2006 the topic of LAT in Indonesia was Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainable Development, and in 2007 the topic was Energy and Climate Change, while in 2008 the participants discussed the issues related to sustainable cities, with titled of the training "Toward Sustainable Cities." During LAT the participants are encouraged to identify future partnership, develop a team-worked LEAD Associate Project, and to build a road map toward sustainable development based on the specific topic of that year. The document of the road map will be disseminated to related agencies, which can bring changes toward sustainable development.
