The New Boards of Supervisors and Directors
Six LEAD Fellows have been selected as members of YPB Boards. Sri Kusyuniati (Cohort 1) and Rahendrawan
(Cohort 6) are in the Board of Supervisors, while Catharina Any Sulistyowati (Cohort 7), Laksmi Dhewanti Rustiawan (Cohort 3),
Diah Kumorowati Marsidi (Cohort 2) and Nedia Permata Hasan (Cohort 7) are selected for the Board of Directors. Wish you all a success!

| LEAD Associate Training of Cohort 11 |

For the last three months LEAD have been conducting 2 sessions of the LEAD Associates Training, which are session 4
"Monitoring & Evaluation of CSR Project using Corporate Benchmarking Tool" and session 5 "Sustainability Tools for Planning &
|
|
Implementing Corporate Social Responsibility" and "Bridging Leadership". In November some of the
Associates will be attending the Regional Training Session in Bangkok, Thailand.

| Sustainable Fishery in Buleleng, Bali |

Sixty-nine fishermen in Pejarakan village, Buleleng have received the international certificate for safe fishing management. The fishing
grounds have also been awarded "certificate for collection site" for its sustainable maintenance. This program,

funded by the Darwin Initiative (UK), is a partnership between LEAD Indonesia/YPB with the Marine
Aquarium Council (MAC) and Lembaga Pilang. [more]

| A CSR Program from UNIDO |
|
UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organizations) is looking at the possibility of developing a center for a type of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for SME in Indonesia, in addition to Tanzania and Nicaragua. For this reason, UNIDO Vienna
International Center has chosen Ibu Darwina Wijayanti, Executive Director of YPB/LEAD Indonesia, as the National Advisor for Indonesia.

| Total of 21 Case Studies of Sustainable Development have been collected |

The YPB Program of Promoting Leadership for Integrated Development--funded by the Ford Foundation-has successfully collected 21 case
studies regarding leadership and sustainable development issues in Indonesia. [more]

| Young Leaders Program |
 |
Richard Harrap, the first participant of the Young Leaders Project 2005 in Indonesia, has completed his job placement and mentoring program.
He enrolled in one of IBEKA programs of "Saving the Environment for a Better Future" in Subang, West Java. His mentor was

Tri Mumpuni (Cohort 2). During the placement, he had the opportunity to visit the other IBEKA programs of the same mission in West Java, as well
as in South Sumatra, Bali and Lombok. [more]

| Water Treament Units from Schneider Electric for Aceh |

Following the WTUs of 'Teratai' and 'Jeumpa', LEAD Indonesia/YPB once again coordinated the construction and shipping of three more WTUs
by the request of Schneider Electric, the funding donor. Just as with the previous two units, the three Schneider units are also

made by PT Envitech Perkasa (Muhtadi Sjadzali, Cohort 1). For their functional operation in the field, PERPAMSI
(the Association of Drinking-Water Companies in Indonesia) has agreed once again to take the lead in the coordination.

The 1000-day commemoration of the late Kismadi was held with the launch of the book about him "Cermin Ilalang" and a small discussion in
Jakarta (15 August 2005) and Yogyakarta (17 August 2005). Amongst the guests in Jakarta, who shared their stories about Kismadi,

| Corporate-Stakeholders Partnership |

The Seminar "Corporate-Stakeholder Partnership: Toward Productive Relations" was
accomplished by LEAD Indonesia last June 2005. Some highlights from the seminar need to be noted and shared.
It is from a note compiled by Iwan Gardono (SocioLab of the University of Indonesia), which underlines the important
of Partnership, maps the stakeholders, and describes the three scenarios of partnership. The seminar note also
illustrates prerequisites of a success partnership as well as the roles of government and community.

Newsletter LEAD Indonesia/YPB is now called Ilalang, the leafy logo and philosophy of YPB.
Ilalang are type of shrubs vegetation that can live long in any situation and condition of soil, even in critical condition of soil
With its strong roots, ilalang are capable to survive in most conditions, rainy or dry season.
Hopefully, just like ilalang, this newsletter can be a pioneer in whatever conditions… make possible of
"other plants" to grow… and can transform unfavorable areas into furtile ones.

With the funding support from the LEAD International, Malahayati Eco Village program, initiated by the Ministry Office of Environment (Kantor Menteri Lingkungan

Hidup), has been in action since September 2005. Through the participation of the local community of Lamreh village (Mesjid Raya sub-district, Aceh Besar District, NAD) from 18-20 October 2005, the proposed program "Lamreh Makmu Buesare" (Lamreh Makmur Bersama= Prosperous Lamreh) has been agreed, with which the population want to revive the community's supreme values and Gampoeng's (village's) roles, to improve the (quality) of human resources, and develop economic activities and infrastructure. Enthusiasm of the locals are so high; they discussed until dawn, until sahur.

Forum in Budapest, 10-12 November 2005. At the forum she will be presenting her essay entitled The Role of Scientist in

| CSR Training in East Kutai |
|
LEAD Indonesia/YPB was invited by FORCE (Center for Community Empowerment & Economic) to be a speaker in the "Soft Launching/
Workshop of Multistakeholders Initiatives in the Implementation of CSR for the Sustainable Development of East Kutai" and the
training facilitator for the "Sustainable CSR." The event was on 26-28 September 2005 in Sangatta, East Kalimantan.

| Stars are Twinkling on Cibodas |
|
YPB director and staff gathered at Cibodas on 22-23 August 2005 to develop draft of its strategic 5-year plan. The last session was
dedicated for appreciation; everybody had to make stars for all his/her colleagues with appreciation words written on it. The stars were
then posted on the walls. Watching the "twinkling stars" in the cold weather of the beautiful Cibodas botanical garden has generated good
spirit and new understanding among YPB people.
